Area 17 covers Hampshire, Dorset, the Isle of Wight and South Wiltshire
Area 17 is one of 23 Areas across the United Kingdom, grouping Riding Clubs who have affiliated to the British Horse Society. This grouping allows affiliated Clubs to compete in Area Qualifiers for the chance to qualify for the various BRC National Championships. Further information about British Riding Clubs and the Championships can be found on their website here. Area 17 is comprised of 23 Riding Clubs, though those from the Channel Islands don’t make it to the mainland often! Details of the Area 17 Clubs can be found on the Club & Centre Contacts page.
The Area 17 Liaison Committee is made up of Club Secretaries / Chairmen / Chefs d’Equipe, lead by the Area Chairman and supported by the Area Representative and Area Secretary. They meet four times a year to coordinate Area Qualifiers, exchange information, and provide feedback through the Area Representative to the BRC Development Forum or Advisory Committee.
Separately, the BHS is also divided into regions and county areas, and links to those websites, with details of their activities, can be found below.
This site aims to provide information for current and prospective new members of Riding Clubs in the Area, about Championship Qualifiers and open events run by Area Clubs.
To keep this site up to date, Secretaries of Clubs will need to send schedules /results / information hyperlinks at the earliest opportunity. Information for publication should be Emailed to the webmaster.
